Ramadan (رمضان)

  • Meaning: Ramadan means “scorching heat” or “dryness.” It is the ninth month and the holiest in Islam.
  • Purpose: Ramadan is a month of fasting, reflection, and spiritual growth. Muslims fast from dawn to sunset to purify their souls, seek forgiveness, and draw closer to Allah.
  • Special Events: Laylat al-Qadr, the Night of Decree, falls in the last ten nights of Ramadan and is believed to be the night when the Quran was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad.
